Today we translate eudaimonia to mean flourishing and wellbeing. Aristotles believed that when we flourish as individuals we exercise and perfect our own unique capacities. Long term life satisfaction arises from developing self concordance, integrity to act according to our own values, needs, interests and goals. Eudaimonia is an activity (or a range of activities) rather than a state. It is a life long practice to stay true to our own path in spite of inner and outer tugs. Finding our unique state of flourishing will not only bring a fulfilling life but it will also contribute the best of us into the world.
